The Alcatel One Touch Fierce provides a solid Android experience for just $19 down on T-Mobile. You get a good-sized 4.5-inch display, loud speakers, a comfy soft-touch design and decent battery life. However, the Fierce's unimpressive camera and limited viewing angles are turn-offs.

Available for $27 down with a total cost of $99, the Evolve can be completely paid off for less than a down payment on a major smartphone. However, the budget handset is held back by a low-res screen, weak battery life and sluggish 3G performance. Although it ultimately costs $70 more, the One Touch Fierce has a cheaper $19 down payment, HSPA+ 4G, and longer battery life.

Alcatel One Touch Fire (Firefox OS)
The Alcatel One Touch Fire is the very first smartphone on the market to run the all new Firefox OS. At first glimpse, this is a tiny device, measuring just 3.5 inches, and covered with smooth, shining orange plastic. The main selling point of this budget device, would be the new operating system, which is an open-source system built to run apps built using HTML 5. This means that apps that run on this phone, will also run on the web. One obvious downside will be that the current app selection will be dwarfed by the options found for Android, Apple or Windows devices. But this should change over time, a few recognizable games and apps are already available for the Firefox OS.
Simplicity was one of the aims of the design, so users should find no problem adopting this new OS. As should be expected for a phone of this size and budget, this tiny smartphone is powered by a 1 GHz Qualcomm processor and 256 MB of RAM. This may sound like a minuscule amount, but with a lightweight OS, this should not pose any problems. Demanding apps may run into trouble. The Alcatel One Touch Fire is equipped with a 3.2 MP camera, which is just about functional for today’s standards. There is a micro SD slot, which allows expanding the storage by up to 32 GB. Overall, this is a cute little phone that will fit nicely within a budget, as long as users are willing to take on the new Firefox OS.

Alcatel One Touch Pop S3
The Alcatel One Touch Pop S3 is a 4G android phone by Alcatel. Its 4 inch IPS LCD screen has a screen resolution of 800x480 pixels. This is a pretty low resolution and the display is not as sharp as it could be. The color contrast is not very good as well. In addition, the screen is reflective and the brightness is too low for the bright sunlight, making it virtually useless outdoors. However, it supports multi touch gestures and features a proximity sensor.
The phone is barely noticeable, weighing only 130 g and comes with white, black or yellow removable tough plastic rear cover in the box. This customization is only sweetened by the 0.9 cm phone depth. It has a 5 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, autofocus and panorama that can capture 1080 pixel video and a 0.3 megapixel front camera.
The internal storage capacity is 4 GB and storage capacity can be expanded to up to 32GB with a microSD card. In addition, it runs on Android 4.3. However, there are a number of preinstalled apps on the phone that are considered “bloatware” and should be deleted to clear the 4 GB internal storage. Unfortunately, most of the bloatware cannot be deleted from the phone. The Alcatel either has a MediaTek CPU or a Snapdragon 400, depending on your location. Those are both decent processors. The 2000 mAh battery can last for up to a day with constant use or up to eight hours of video playback.

To be able to offer it for such a budget price it is obvious that Alcatel has had to look very carefully at the design and has had to cut corners. The Alcatel One Touch Pop S3, available on the EE network as a pay-as-you-go phone for £79, is one of the cheapest – if not the cheapest – available 4G phones. It is an entry level phone that will meet the needs of a great many people at an acceptable price.

We're hard pressed to recommend the Alcatel One Touch Pop C1, even with its bargain-basement price. You can get so much more bang for your buck for just a little more cash with Motorola's Moto E. Motorola's offering gives you better hardware, the latest software updates and a sharper screen, all in a similarly slim chassis and for around £30 more. If you're after a budget phone, you really want to stretch your cash and unfortunately the Pop C1 just doesn't go that far.

The Pop 8 is definitely not few of those trendy, stylish and supreme tablets available today. But what it offers in terms of hardware and performance is considerably justified by its price. You can surely get better deals on tablets from other manufacturers at more or less same price point. Alcatel also offers two types of protective cases – one for back-cover and one for the screen. My review sample came with both the covers, which again was not of a superior grade. Overall the Pop 8 is not one of those recommended products that you would consider buying this holiday season.

Alcatel OneTouch Hero 2
The Alcatel OneTouch Hero 2 is branded as a fun device aimed at creative users. Not to say that this smartphone can't be used for serious work, on the contrary, it excels in that department. The Alcatel OneTouch Hero 2 is well designed with curved edges for good in-hand comfort. Display on the smartphone is a 6 inch IPS LCD with Dragontrail glass. Users can expect good clarity and colors with an excellent screen real estate. Around this gorgeous screen is a dark grey bezel that holds in the integrated capacitive stylus. The rear panel is kept simple with the Alcatel OneTouch branding contrasting the dark grey. The Android 4.4.2 KitKat device comes with a Cortex-A7 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0 GHz, 2 GB RAM, Mali-450MP4 GPU and an internal storage of 16 GB. As users can see these specifications are an indicator for performance and the Alcatel OneTouch Hero 2 can deliver. There is a 13.1 MP primary camera with optical image stabilization and a secondary 5 MP front facing shooter. Other features include microSD support, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, stereo FM radio with RDS and A-GPS. The Alcatel OneTouch Hero 2 comes with Sidekick 2 support, a handset. So, users can put aside the larger smartphone. Battery life is good with a non-removable Li-Ion 3100 mAh cell powering the device.Specifications

The Alcatel OneTouch Hero 2 sounds like a powerful phone and a great budget-friendly, stylus-equipped phablet, which should appeal to those who are in the market for such a device. It costs around ~$430 (€350), and for this sort of money, one would expect mostly smooth operation. Unfortunately, choppy performance and a next-to-unusable stylus detracts from the experience to the point where one may wish to look for other options.

Overall the Alcatel Onetouch Pop 2 4.5 4G (it really needs a better name) is an ok phone, if you really really want 4G on the cheap that is. For me the problems with the display would stop me using it and that’s that. Although someone coming from a £20 feature phone wouldn’t see this as a problem. The one thing I keep coming back to is the new Moto E 4G 2015 which also costs about £100 and runs Lollipop and arguably has a better overall spec and will probably receive firmware updates for time to come.

The Alcatel One Touch Pop 2 is a respectable budget offering, packing 4G, a reasonably smooth user experience and solid battery life into a plain yet strangely attractive handset. The Alcatel Pop D5 for the money is a pretty basic phone. The overall experience is as you’d expect on a MediaTek based device for about £80, with lag here and there, some dodgy screen angles and a huge lack of internal memory. I’d really struggle to recommend this phone to anyone, as I mentioned earlier the low end Lumias or the first gen Moto E or Moto G will offer a much better experience. The lack of memory, lack of storage and the atrocious camera just ruined the whole experience.

Just like the Alcatel Pixi 4, the Alcatel Pop 4 sacrifices too much at the altar of ultra-low pricing, necessitating massive compromises which really impact on the overall experience. Once again, you're going to get wound up by the sluggish performance and poor battery life, amongst other foibles, which will likely offset the initial glow from saving money.

With the decline in the Android tablet market, there are very few options to choose from. Alcatel has managed to get a few things right with the Pop4, such as its full-HD display and front-firing stereo speakers, and it's decent for entertainment. Most tablets at this price point have HD displays giving the Pop4 a slight edge. However, the two-year-old software isn't a good platform to start with. Battery life is okay, but charging takes a long time. Considering the price and the performance that you get, you could go for the Alcatel Pop4, but if you need a device that is more of a computer than a tablet, the iBall Compbook Marvel 6 looks like a more versatile device at roughly the same price.

Alcatel:
The former French manufacturer of telecommunication equipment merged to Alcatel-Lucent in 2006. Several business segments were sold to other companies, so the Alcatel brand is now used by various companies. The Chinese company TCL uses the brand names "Alcatel One Touch" and "Alcatel Idol" for smartphones and tablets.
The market share in the smartphone + tablet segment is very small, but there are quite some recent reviews in different languages. The ratings are average (as of 2016).
