Case, equipment and operation
The Alcatel 3T 10 4G (2020) is cased in a unibody case made of plastic, which is pleasantly grippy due to its surface texture. The design is certainly not a highlight, but it leaves a solid impression and is cleanly manufactured
The equipment is kept slim. The USB 2.0 port has the current Type-C design, but is only used for charging the tablet and exchanging data with a computer; OTG is not supported. The card slot accommodates one nano-SIM and one microSD card
The Alcatel 3T 10 accesses the data network via LTE Cat. 4 on the move, which is not particularly fast, but it is easily sufficient for surfing and smaller data transfers or streams are also handled effortlessly. Even the apps for telephony and SMS messages are preinstalled. Thanks to Wi-Fi 5, the tablet is also fast in WLAN networks and convinces with a good range and quite stable transmission rates in the test
The Android 10 interface is slim and TCL only installs a few useful apps. There are no third-party apps except for an Office Suite, which grants a seven-day free trial period
The capacitive touchscreen of the Alcatel 3T 10 (2020) implements inputs quickly and reliably. However, biometric security features like a fingerprint scanner or facial recognition are not available

Cameras - 5 MP on both sides
The Alcatel 3T 10 (2020) has a 5 MP camera on both the front and the back. The one on the front delivers good quality for video conferencing, but the photos are characterized by noise even in good light
The lens on the back is at best suitable for digitizing documents when there is enough light. Unfortunately, however, TCL does without an auxiliary LED. Photos are low-contrast, with dull colors and lacking dynamics

WeitwinkelWeitwinkelZoom (4/5-fach)Low-LightDisplay - IPS with low sharpness
The 10.1-inch (25.65 cm) IPS display of the Alcatel 3T 10 4G (2020) is not fully laminated and the pixel density is quite low, so pixel structures are visible to the naked eye. Furthermore, DRM certification is missing, which means that appropriately protected content cannot be played in HD and is not much fun on the 3T 10
The brightness values are okay, but Alcatel's tablet quickly reaches its limits on sunny days. Furthermore, there is no integrated ambient light sensor, so the user has to manually adjust the brightness. The black value is also higher in the APL50 measurement (0.30 cd/m²), which reduces the contrast to 1,247:1

Performance, emissions and battery life
The Alcatel 3T 10 (8094X) is powered by a MediaTek MT8766B, which is a tablet SoC from the lower entry-level segment. The 2 GB working memory underline the low ambitions. The overall package nevertheless delivers decent system performance. Only more demanding apps take a bit longer to start. The tablet is also not recommended for gaming enthusiasts. Everything can be executed, but modern 3D games judder noticeably even when the details are reduced
Due to the low power reserves and the large surface area, the Alcatel 3T 10 barely warms up even under load
Behind the two speaker grilles on the lower long side, there is only one speaker on the left, which provides a dull, hollow and weak soundscape. The jack port, which has a very low signal-to-noise ratio (31.79 dBFS), is equally unconvincing. It sounds better via USB-C or Bluetooth
The low performance and panel resolution also have their advantages. Alcatel's tablet achieves very long runtimes despite the comparatively small 5,500 mAh battery

Verdict - Alcatel tablet with long runtimes and LTE
Whether the Alcatel 3T 10 (2020) is actually suitable as a full-fledged business tablet depends not least on the user's own demands. The tablet leaves an overall good impression in the test, but also requires a certain amount of willingness to compromise
The integrated LTE modem and the long battery runtimes ensure all-day mobility. However, the display is less suitable for representative tasks due to its low brightness and resolution
The Alcatel 3T 10 4G (2020) convinces with long battery runtimes and LTE
The 3T 10 is also not a multimedia wonder. It simply lacks computing power for complex games and the speakers are not very good for music playback
However, those looking for a mobile office companion with 4G or for simple administrative tasks will certainly have found a cheap LTE tablet in Alcatel's 3T 10 (2020), which hardly has to fear competition in terms of price
Price and availability
The Alcatel tablet with 2 GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage, and LTE is available via Amazon-Marketplace, among others. TCL itself names Otto as the distribution partner for Germany.
