Leaked information by an unnamed supply-chain unit to industry news source DigiTimes, Acer will be releasing a fiberglass ultrabook in a few months time. Device manufacturer Pegatron has apparently been working on this new 15-inch ultrabook with a fiberglass chassis this past month
Not much is known about its specs but according to the report, Pegatron had received a large orders with shipments of around 100,000 units per month suggesting that the Ultrabook might not have a huge price tag that most ultrabooks have. Apart from that, a fiberglass body - as compared to a full-aluminium body like the one on the Asus Zenbook will also decrease the cost of production allowing it to be priced reasonably.
If this ultrabook is released sometime after May, it will only make sense if it comes with the newer Intel Ivy Bridge range of processors. However, there aren't any words to indicate that this model will be it at the moment. This new fiberglass ultrabook will be Acer's second 15-inch ultrabook. It had previously launched the 15-inch Timeline Ultra M3 which is a one of a kind ultrabook thanks to its optical drive.
