Acer will be launching a new portable computer, dubbed P243, which appears to be part of the manufacturer’s TravelMate Series. According to a company press release, the laptop is aimed at business professionals on-the-go and will first become commercially available in stores within the United Kingdom (unfortunately there is still no word on an exact release date).

Reportedly, the TravelMate P243 will be equipped with a Dual-Core, third generation (Ivy Bridge) Core i5 central processing unit that offers support for Intel’s Hyper-Threading (4 threads), and Turbo Boost technologies. In addition, the business notebook packs a 14-inch LED-backlit display of HD native resolution (1366-by-768 pixels).

Acer also claims the P243 accommodates up to 8GB of internal DDR3 memory, a 750GB mechanical hard drive for storing your files and an optional NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M GPU with dedicated VRAM.

Other specs presumably include Wireless LAN 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0+HS radios, USB 3.0 connectivity, and a built-in HD web camera for video conferencing.

The maker’s latest TravelMate laptop comes with the Acer ProShield tool that apparently features pre-boot authentication for protecting your PC’s BIOS and various important applications/files installed on the HDD.
