Earlier this week, Google carried out an online scavenger hunt where lucky winners were able to pre-order their Chromebooks before the rest of the world. Now the company is making their Chrome OS notebooks available to the masses, and it seems that not even a lawsuit involving the Chromebook title is capable of stopping Google.
According to the company, both Acer’s Cromia and Samsung’s Series 5 notebooks can now be booked online from Best Buy and Amazon.com. Both notebooks are available in 3G and Wi-Fi models, but the Series 5 Chromebook also offers the choice between White and Black colors.
As far as hardware goes, both notebooks come with a dual-core Intel Atom N570 processor, a 16GB SSD and 2GB of DDR3 memory. Acer's Cromia is the cheaper of the two, with a $380 price for the Wi-Fi version and a $450 price for the 3G model. On the other hand, the Wi-Fi and 3G versions of the Samsung Series 5 sell for $430 and $500 respectively.
As of now, Amazon and Best Buy have no official shipping date listed, but earlier information from Google indicated the notebooks would hit the road around June 15th.
