The Taiwanese PC manufacturer, Acer, has apparently decided to lower its forecast for notebook and tablet shipments. Despite the company’s high expectations for 2011, the slowly recovering European economy and the fierce competition (iPad) are reportedly among the reasons for the revised forecast.
According to Acer chairman J.T. Wang, the company will ship between 2.5 and 3 million units by the end of this year, which is about 50% less than the previously expected 5-7 million units. Mr. Wang has supposedly also stated that present quarter laptop shipments will plunge by 10% from Q1 2011 and should become more stable and even go up in Q3 2011.
