Computex 2011 | Samsung debuts the RV415 and RV515 notebooks

Teaser
The AMD Zacate-based laptops were revealed at the Computex in Taipei

With the introduction of the RV415 and RV515 models at the Computex Show in Taipei, the South Korean PC manufacturer, Samsung, is once again putting a focus on aesthetics. Embracing a design that incorporates both simplicity and style, the new notebooks will reportedly soon be available to customers for purchase sporting an aluminum chassis and a “comfortable” chic-let keyboard.

Configuration

Both systems are powered by an AMD Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) in the form of a Zacate E-350 chip, which has two cores clocked at 1.6GHz. Furthermore, the processor offers 1MB of Level 3 cache, 18W max. TDP and is ranked 306 in our CPU Benchmark List. Graphics are taken care of by a Seymore XT Radeon HD 6470 (DirectX 11, Shader 5.0) video controller that operates at 750MHz and ships with 1GB of dedicated VRAM.

The major difference between the two models is that the RV415 is equipped with a 14-inch display, whereas the RV515 packs a 15.6-inch panel. The LED-backlit Glossy widescreens come with a maximum supported resolution of 1366-by-768 pixels, which means users can view and enjoy HD 720p content.

Otherwise, consumers will be provided with up to 4GB of internal DDR3 memory and “spacious” mechanical hard drives (HDD) that have a storage capacity of 500GB.

Connectivity

Customers can supposedly stay in touch with friends and colleagues thanks to the integrated Wireless LAN adapter and web camera. In addition, a built-in Bluetooth 3.0 + HS module is also available, along with VGA port and HDMI interface for connecting to an external HDTV or HD Monitor.

Other specs, pricing and availability

Samsung will ship the RV415 and RV515 with a pre-installed copy of Microsoft’s Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. Users will also be able to take advantage of the two integrated speakers (3W output) with SRS 3D Sound technology.

Software features presumably include Norton Online Backup (trial), Samsung Magic Doctor, Samsung Update Plus, Easy Display Manger, Easy Battery Manager and Easy SpeedUp Manager.

Unfortunately, there is still no word on pricing and an exact release date.
