The word "swift" included in this laptop's name is indicative of a powerful device. Read our review to find out whether the 16.1-inch Acer Swift 3 with the relatively rarely used Intel Core i7-11370H and its onboard Iris Xe Graphics G7 96EUs GPU lives up to its name.

Acer's Swift 3 is all about the screen. It's among the most affordable 16-inch laptops available, rivaled only by Lenovo's 16-inch IdeaPad. Despite this, the Swift 3 delivers a great 1080p screen with a high contrast ratio and accurate color. It's ideal for multi-tasking, watching movies, and streaming shows. Look past the display, however, and the laptop is less exciting. The Intel Core i7-11370H is usually behind AMD's Ryzen 7 in demanding apps, though Intel's Xe integrated do manage a win. Battery life is a problem as well and makes the Swift 3 of limited use for travel despite its slim, sleek profile. This laptop is great for students, writers, accountants, researchers, and anyone else who wants a big screen on a modest budget. If you need multi-threaded performance or battery life, however, consider an AMD alternative.

You really can’t knock getting a large, 16-inch laptop with excellent productivity performance and good battery life for $1,000. That’s the Acer Swift 3 16 in a nutshell. My biggest complaints with the laptop are its slightly subpar build quality and its 16:9 display, making it feel too wide. But the keyboard is adequate, and the touchpad is large, although Acer needs to loosen up the buttons a bit. If you’re looking for a large-format machine for productivity use with a bit of creative work tossed in, then the Swift 3 16 is a strong candidate. Even though its display is 16:9, the Acer Swift 3 16 provides more than enough performance for productive multitasking, and the large screen can comfortably host two windows side by side.

Acer Swift 3 (SF316-51)’s IPS panel has a Full HD resolution, comfortable viewing angles, and a good contrast ratio. Its backlight is safe when it comes to PWM, while the color coverage is about 98%. This, paired with the good color accuracy with our Gaming and Web design profile, makes the panel great for professional work, requiring accurate color representation.

While you can enjoy casual gaming on the Swift 3 16, do not expect to be playing many GPU-intensive games on this particular machine without the aid of a cloud gaming service like GeForce NOW, for example. If you are the type of gamer that enjoys games like Minecraft, then you should be fine. Just keep in mind that this is not a gaming laptop as it utilizes Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics versus a discrete GPU. The Acer Swift 3 that we tested is a nice, affordable option for anyone who needs a dependable laptop for working from home, taking online classes, or simply a well-built laptop for travel. It is more than capable of multitasking, such as streaming some YouTube or Netflix while either editing Word documents or smashing out that 5 page essay. This is a light, sturdy laptop with a quality keyboard that is well-suited for mainstream mobile computing needs. Its all metal frame gives it a premium feel despite its approachable price point. Starting at $999, Acer offers a solid, well-built machine in the new Swift 3, with good horsepower for a myriad of mainstream use cases.

Overall, the Acer Swift 3 isn’t an impressive laptop, but it’s good for people who need something that runs well and has a large display. If you’re not a fan of the shorter battery life and the meh keyboard, you may want to look at competitors of its ilk. The Aero 13 offers an excellent keyboard, a bright display and amazing battery life. However, the 13-inch screen isn’t very big compared with the Swift 3. If you’re dying for a large display, the Acer Swift 3 is probably one of the better laptops to get on a budget, but it’s not the best.

The Acer Swift 3 may not have been our favorite ultraportable machine when we looked at the smaller version a few months ago, but as a 16-inch machine in the latest refresh, it works really well. The H-series 11th Generation Intel processor gives the Swift 3 a much-needed performance boost. Couple that with excellent battery life, and you have a very capable productivity machine. However, if you're looking to squeeze some more performance from your 16-inch machine for about the same price, we'd recommend grabbing our Editor's Choice pick, the Dell Inspiron 16 Plus, which will net you a GeForce RTX 30-series GPU, as well as a peppy H-series processor and even better battery life.

Acer: In 1976, the company was founded in Taiwan under the name Multitech and was renamed Acer or Acer Group in 1987. The product range includes, for example, laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, monitors, TVs and computer peripherals. Since 2007, the group has merged with Gateway Inc. and Packard Bell, which also market their own laptop product lines.
Acer computers are designed for a variety of purposes, including ultrabooks for mobile use, gaming laptops for gamers, affordable options for everyday tasks, and 2-in-1 convertible laptops for versatility. Acer's product portfolio also includes tablets that offer portable computing and multimedia capabilities.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

75.04%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
