The Acer Predator Helios 300 2021 brings a healthy update to its hardware, coming in more powerful as ever with some minor improvements here and there. If you are using a previous generation model or a different laptop with similar hardware like a 9th or 10th Gen Intel Core CPU and NVIDIA RTX 20-series GPU, there’s really no need to upgrade but if it’s any older, it’s worth considering, especially with an attractive price of RM8,999.

Now, we have two things to say. First of all, the performance in the gaming tests could have been better, if we were able to find a configuration that comes with dual-channel memory. On the other hand, we didn’t find any MUX switch settings, so you will definitely get better performance when you are connected to an external monitor. Generally speaking, we can’t say that this unit is the best on the market. In terms of performance for the hardware (especially in games), it might not even be in the top 3. However, you have to keep its price in mind. Given the fact that no laptop is perfect, you have to set your priorities straight before you even look for anything, and if it happens to match your standards – go for it. In this case, the Helios 300 has a lot of great competitors, like the ROG Strix G17 G713 we mentioned, as well as the slightly smaller Lenovo Legion 5 Pro 16, and Legion 7 (16″).

17.30": This display size is a standard format for desktop replacements (DTR). The DTR laptops are heavier to carry, need more power, but texts are easy to read and high resolutions are no problem. DTR are mainly intended for stationary desk use, where weight and energy hunger don't matter. In return, you enjoy the advantages of high resolutions (more details, better legibility).» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
3 kg:
With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.

Acer's product portfolio also includes tablets that offer portable computing and multimedia capabilities.
73%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
