Acer Chromebook Vero 514 (2022) Review
Source: USA Today English
The Acer Chromebook Vero 514 is a sturdy product that will perform well during everyday tasks. While not explicitly built to be repairable, you can easily open the chassis to switch out parts. Its sustainable design uses recycled and recyclable materials, which gives it a unique look and feel. If you’re set on making the most eco-conscious purchase possible, you should seriously consider a MacBook Air M2 or MacBook Air M1 because Apple has the most ambitious sustainability targets in the industry. Not only is Apple on target to achieve 100% net zero carbon emissions across its entire operations by 2030, but the company has also committed to low-carbon design, the Circular Economy, and product recycling. In contrast, it appears from my research that Acer doesn't have a specific carbon target, but rather a goal of using 60% renewable energy by 2025.

The Vero 514 is a snappy Chromebook model that is a solid contender for writers, web browsers, email responders, and Google Workspace lovers. The Acer Chromebook Vero 514 is a sleek Chromebook perfect for the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The laptop utilizes recycled plastics throughout its design to give it a unique, sleek look with a durable frame. The battery life is almost alarmingly good, and it’s a generally sturdy, easy-to-use Chromebook.

The Chromebook Vero 514 is a well-built and lightweight Chrome-based laptop that provides a versatile workhorse computer at a competitive price. It can handle a variety of routine tasks with no trouble at, and will certainly appeal to people who are fans of ChromeOS, or simply want to try an alternative to Windows for a change. Pricing is fairly competitive - although it's getting close to the point where you might want to consider a conventional Windows laptop as well, particularly if you need more memory for more intensive tasks. We'd take a bit more battery life too. Still, if you're looking for a laptop with some eco credentials to back up a good performance for day-to-day tasks, the Vero 514 is well worth a look.

Acer already makes some of the best Chromebooks on the market, but the Chromebook Vero 514 offers a completely different take. This unique design provides a great option for those who want a powerful machine that stands out from the pack. Just be prepared to deal with a display that isn't ideal if you want to work outside.

Source: Digital Trends English
The Chromebook Ver0 514 contributes to the sustainability movement with a ton of recycled materials, and it has a unique look and feel. By that standard, it’s a solid notebook. By other standards, such as the disappointing display and mediocre keyboard, it’s not quite so impressive. It is fast, though, and its battery life is decent. At $600, it’s not a cheap Chromebook, but it’s not overly expensive, either. Still, I find it hard to recommend to anyone whose priorities go beyond the environment.

I don’t like Chromebooks, but I did like the performance, keyboard, webcam, battery life, and rugged nature of the Acer Chromebook Vero 514. It lost some points with the display and design, but it really messed it up with the touchpad. If you’re willing to spend some extra cash, I suggest going for the Acer Chromebook Spin 714, since it offers a great upgrade all around, including touch and 2-in-1 capabilities. But overall, the Chromebook Vero 514 is a decent choice for the money.

The Acer Chromebook Vero 514 has a slightly odd chassis design that you may either love or loathe, and its eco-credentials are a tad underwhelming. In general, though, it's a fast-working Chromebook with a decent screen, excellent webcam and comfortable keyboard. Admittedly, it's not a good choice for serious gamers, or anyone wedded to 4K. But for everyone else, it offers solid value at a very reasonable price.

The Acer Chromebook Vero 514 is a phenomenal pick for those who want an eco-friendly everyday laptop. The hardware inside promises strong performance and the exterior is both rugged and uniquely designed. In terms of aesthetic and sustainability, it’s definitely a welcome change from your typical run-of-the-mill Chromebook. There are only a couple of downsides to the Vero. The audio is lacking, but that’s not too surprising. Laptops aren’t known for the best audio. You’re also stuck using ChromeOS, which means your apps and game options are limited. If you don’t mind those miniscule nitpicks, then the Chromebook Vero 514 is definitely worth considering.

The Vero 514 is Acer’s first attempt at a sustainability-focused Chromebook, and it gets a lot right. A speckled finish makes it stand out from the crowd, but it doesn’t feel cheap or substandard because of the recycled plastic. And there’s no skimping on performance, with plenty of power here for all ‘everyday’ tasks. Battery life is good, too, and it’s nice to have quicker-than-average charging speeds. Other highlights include a decent selection of ports and a good-quality webcam. The weak point is the screen: it’s dim, lacks sharpness and doesn’t have those punchy, vibrant colours we’ve all come to expect from modern devices. The trackpad isn’t great either and – annoyingly – there’s no fingerprint sensor or face unlock support. None of these should be deal-breakers if you’re set on a Chromebook, but the Vero 514 won’t convince many people to switch from a Windows laptop.

Acer's Chromebook Vero 514 is one of the fastest Chromebooks we've tested, complete with a sturdy build and an HDMI port we're always happy to see—especially since its dim screen will have you reaching for an external monitor. But at $949.99, our test unit is too costly for a Chromebook, and its Core i7 CPU and 16GB of RAM are arguably unnecessary for ChromeOS. The Core i5 version has the same ecological appeal for a much more earthly $599.99.

You might want to buy the Chromebook Vero 514 because of its green credentials, but the better reason to buy it is that it’s mostly an excellent Chromebook. I suspect the plastic construction is going to be a Marmite thing – you’ll either like it or you won’t – but it’s fast, well made, comfortable to use and configured with all the latest features and components. In fact, there’s just one potential dealbreaker: if you prefer a bright screen or want a Chromebook you can use in sunny conditions, the Vero 514’s dim display just won’t cut it. Otherwise, it’s cracking value and an ideal machine for everyday use.

60% Acer Chromebook Vero 514 review: A fast, robust and eco-friendly notebook with a poor screen
Source: It Pro English
There's no doubt that the Acer Chromebook Vero 514 doesn't tick every box, thanks to its mediocre connectivity and underwhelming display. It fights back elsewhere, though. Its 12th Gen Intel processors make it one of the fastest Chromebooks around, its keyboard and trackpad are satisfying, and it's got all-day battery life. And while it's not the only green laptop on the market, it's welcome if you'd like your tech to be environmentally conscious. The price is often right, too. The Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 versions of the Vero cost £416 exc VAT, £583 exc VAT and £666 exc VAT. The Lenovo costs £456 exc VAT but it's miles slower, and the Chromebook Spin 513 only costs £249 but it's slower and flimsier than the Vero too. The Spin 713 offers better connectivity and a superior screen, but its Core i3, i5 and i7 rigs are pricier than the Vero and you lose processing grunt. The Acer Chromebook Vero 514 is fast, robust and will last all day, and its ergonomics make it satisfying to use. It doesn't have a high-end touchscreen or hybrid design, but it's a great choice if you want an affordable and capable everyday ChromeOS machine.

The Acer Chromebook Vero 514 is a solid Chromebook. While it may be on the expensive side, it offers great performance for the price, as well as some decent battery life in a chassis that not only looks great but also helps to save the planet. Its port selection is a little stingy though, and this isn’t the lightest of laptops, but it’s otherwise an excellent choice.

Acer: In 1976, the company was founded in Taiwan under the name Multitech and was renamed Acer or Acer Group in 1987. The product range includes, for example, laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, monitors, TVs and computer peripherals. Since 2007, the group has merged with Gateway Inc. and Packard Bell, which also market their own laptop product lines.

Acer computers are designed for a variety of purposes, including ultrabooks for mobile use, gaming laptops for gamers, affordable options for everyday tasks, and 2-in-1 convertible laptops for versatility. Acer's product portfolio also includes tablets that offer portable computing and multimedia capabilities.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

14.00:

14 inch display size represents a middle ground between the small subnotebook formats and the screens of the standard 15 inch laptops.

The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, provides good resolutions with usable detail sizes, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact.

In the past, 14-inch devices were very rare, but now they are the standard for laptops after the 15-inchers.

74.71%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
