The Acer Aspire AS7741Z-4815 is a big screen laptop with a small price tag. Its performance is predictably budget-like, and it comes up short in the features department, but it offers lots of storage and lots of screen real-estate for the money.

Based on its components, the Acer Aspire AS7741Z-4643 is just about right for a laptop hovering around the $500 mark. Similar systems with low-end dual-core Intel or AMD processors are available from Toshiba, HP, and others, including some with better designs and more features. The Acer Aspire AS7741Z-4643 does an admirable job for an entry-level big-screen laptop, assuming you can live with the corner cutting.

With the Acer Aspire AS7741Z-4643, you'll find something that you rarely see among desktop-replacement laptops: a price south of $500. You’ll need to visit Wal-Mart to find it, though, because the discount retailer has an exclusive on the AS7741Z-4643. If you want a big-screen notebook at a small price, this Wal-Mart-exclusive machine will deliver for basic tasks, though it's no processing powerhouse.

Acer: The company was founded under the name of Multitech in Taiwan in 1976 and renamed to Acer or Acer Group in 1987. The product range includes, for example, laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, monitors and televisions. Gateway Inc. and Packard Bell also belong to the Group and sell their own laptops.

While Acer still had the third largest global market share in the notebook segment in 2008, it ranked 6th in 2016 with a market share of 6% after they had continuously lost market shares.

There are dozens of Acer laptop reviews per month, the ratings are average (as of 2016). Gateway, which has an own laptop line-up, has also belonged to the Acer Group since 2007.

Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) HD Graphics: Onboard graphics card that is built in the new Arrandale CPUs (Core i3 / i5 / i7 Dual Cores). Depending on the model and Turbo Boost, the GMA HD is clocked between 166 and 766 MHz.

Intel Pentium:

P6100: The Pentium P6100 is an entry level CPU based on the Arrandale core. Compared to the Celeron P4600, the P6100 offers a bit better performance due to the faster System Bus and an increased Level 3 cache. However, VT-x is not available for the P6100.
