Suitable for use as a second screen, AOC's new Full HD monitor is small enough to carry alongside your laptop and only requires a single USB 3.0 port.

If you're looking to turn your laptop into a dual-monitor setup, AOC has you covered. The company has just released a 16-inch portable monitor that can be powered directly from your laptop's USB 3.0 port.

The consumer-friendly–named AOC I1659FWUX has the following specifications:

  • 15.6" LED-backlit IPS display with a 16:9 aspect ratio
  • 1920x1080 Full HD display resolution
  • 60 Hz refresh rate
  • 25 ms response time
  • True 8-bit color depth
  • 700:1 contrast ratio
  • 220cd/m2 brightness
  • Single USB 3.0 connection

The new AOC monitor can be used both horizontally and vertically due to its foldable "flexi-stand" that allows the monitor to be placed in either position. Additionally, the monitor automatically senses its current orientation and rotates the display accordingly.

Laptops aren't the only use for the AOC I1659FWUX. The monitor can be used with any computer, such as a small form factor PC or even a full-sized tower, as long as it has a free USB 3.0 port. Unfortunately for those who can't spare a port, AOC's new monitor does not support any wireless display technologies such as Miracast, and its single USB port, plus the lack of an HDMI port, prevent a wireless adapter dongle from being used with it.

The AOC I1659FWUX can be purchased from Amazon for $149.90.
