AOC AGON 5th generation gaming monitors unleashed with QHD resolutions, high refresh rates and Console Mode
AOC has presented the AG275QX/EU and AG275QXN/EU, two gaming monitors that sit within its AGON product line. According to the company, both should be capable of displaying fast-moving and competitive action accurately thanks to their high refresh rate and low input lag panels. As their names suggest, the pair are both 27-inch monitors that belong to the 5th generation of the AGON series.
Similarities do not end there either, with both offering a 165 Hz refresh rate combined with 1 ms response times (GtG) and VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification for up to 400 nits of peak brightness. Incidentally, AOC has included support for Motion Blur Reduction (MBR), which allows the pair to deliver 1 ms MPRT response times too. Additionally, the AG275QX/EU and AG275QXN/EU operate natively at 2,560 x 1,440 pixels with AMD FreeSync Premium technology to minimise image tearing. However, the former also includes G-SYNC compatibility for use with NVIDIA graphics cards and is overclockable to 170 Hz when needed.
Moreover, the AG275QX/EU relies on an IPS panel, rather than the VA panel in the AG275QXN/EU. Separately, the pair come with USB 3.2 Gen 1 USB hubs, two DisplayPort 1.4 ports and two HDMI 2.0 connections. While the latter means that both gaming monitors lack the advanced features that HDMI 2.1 would provide, AOC has sought to bridge the gap with 'Console Mode', which downscales 4K signals to 2.5K and maintains a 120 Hz refresh rate. Furthermore, AOC has equipped the pair with ergonomic metal stands that offer 150 mm height adjustment, a -20/20° swivel range, a -5/23° tilt range and 90° pivot orientation.
So far, AOC has confirmed that the AGON AG275QX/EU will be available for £339.99 in the UK and for €399 in the Eurozone. By contrast, the AG275QXN/EU will retail for £279.99 and €329, respectively. Both gaming monitors should be available in multiple markets from later this month.
