The GMKtec Evo-X1 mini PC is once again available for its all-time low price on Amazon, thanks to an ongoing sale ahead of Black Friday. Powered by the powerful Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 "Strix Point" APU, the Evo-X1 boasts excellent CPU performance, and also sports an OCuLink port, enabling powerful eGPU setups.

The GMKtec Evo-X1 is a very capable gaming mini PC with impressive performance and a striking design. Powered by AMD Strix Point APUs, the Evo-X1 is frequently found on sale on the digital shelves of Amazon. It appears that the product is on sale yet again, and is available with a sizeable $250 discount which knocks its price back down to its all-time low price of $799.

AMD Strix Point-equipped tiny powerhouse

As mentioned previously, the GMKtec Evo-X1 mini PC is powered by an AMD Strix Point APU, specifically the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. This 12-core chip packs four Zen 5 and eight Zen 5c cores, allowing for multi-threaded performance that rivals the Core Ultra 9 285H from Team Blue. Our detailed review of the Evo-X1 mini PC reveals that the cooling system does an admirable job in taming the APU, although the fans are most definitely on the noisier side.

While there are plenty of chips on the market which offer even higher performance numbers, the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370-powered Evo-X1 is plenty powerful and should easily be able to handle almost any CPU-intensive workload. For GPU workloads, the Radeon 890M iGPU is pretty well-equipped for an integrated part, and should customers desire any further GPU headroom, the mini PC packs an OCuLink port for eGPUs. The ports on offer are as follows:

  • OCuLink
  • HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.1
  • Dual 2.5G Ethernet
  • Dual USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A, dual USB 2.0 Type-A
  • 3.5 mm audio jack

However, not all is merry with the Evo-X1 mini PC. For starters, the 32 GB of LPDDR5X-7500 memory is non-upgradeable, which may even be a deal-breaker for certain people. The storage, however, is not soldered, and can be easily upgraded courtesy of dual M.2 2280 (PCIe Gen4 x4) slots. WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 take care of wireless networking requirements.

Needless to say, folks who can afford to wait roughly another month might be able to score an even larger discount during the upcoming Black Friday sale. Those who do decide to pull the trigger on this capable mini PC are definitely recommended to refer to our in-depth review of the Evo-X1 before making their final decision.
