Google has revealed that Chrome 150 will be the last version of the browser to support Macs running macOS 12 Monterey. Most Intel Macs launched prior to 2018 will be affected by this update, forcing users to either purchase a new Mac, or switch to a different browser to keep up with security updates.

Folks who use Google Chrome on their pre-2018 Macs will have to deal with an unfortunate event quite soon. According to a recent update on Google's official support page for Chrome, Chrome 150 will be the last version of the popular web browser to support macOS 12 Monterey.

Considering that macOS 13 Ventura does not support Macs launched prior to 2017, readers who are still rocking old hardware will either have to shell out money for a new Mac, or switch to a different web browser if they wish to stay updated with latest features and security patches. The list of Intel Macs officially supported by macOS Ventura is as follows:

  • iMac (2017 and later)
  • iMac Pro (2017)
  • Mac mini (2018 and later)
  • Mac Pro (2019 and later)
  • MacBook Pro (2017 and later)
  • MacBook Air (2018 and later)
  • MacBook (2017)

Needless to say, all Apple Silicon Macs are supported for now. Folks who desire to stick with their unsupported Intel Macs can opt for Firefox, considering that their systems can run macOS 10.15 Catalina. Other browsers, such as Brave and Opera, will continue to support macOS 12 Monterey for the time being.
