Multi-core madness: 96-core AMD Ryzen Threadripper 9995WX hits Geekbench 6 with impressive result

Thanks to a recently uploaded Geekbench listing spotted by VideoCardz, it now appears that we have some concrete data regarding the performance improvements brought to the table by AMD's recently revealed Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX high-end desktop CPU that sits at the helm of the Shimada Peak lineup.

Before we jump into the Geekbench 6 result, here is a refresher on the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX CPU - Zen 5-based CPU built with TSMC's 4nm process, sporting 96 cores and 192 threads along with a TDP of 350 watts. AMD has claimed a 22% uplift in multi-core performance compared to its predecessor, the Zen 4-based Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX. 

A true multi-core behemoth

According to the listing on Geekbench, the Threadripper PRO 9995WX managed to score a whopping 30,170 points in the multi-core department. However, its single-core score of 2,800, while decent, leaves a lot to be desired. Compared to its predecessor, which scored 23,913 in the same test, the 9995WX indicates a sizeable 26% improvement. That said, the improvement in the single-core score is a much more modest 9%.

VideoCardz has also spotted a few online listings for the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX, revealing that the workstation CPU commands a hefty price tag of roughly $12,700 in the US and €12,300 in the EU. Clearly, the crown jewel of AMD's Shimada Peak lineup is set to arrive with a substantial price increase.
