5000 mAh Galaxy S11 Plus battery spotted on Korean certification portal

The Galaxy S11+ is likely to feature an enormous 5000 mAh battery. GalaxyClub spotted a clear image of the alleged Galaxy S11+ battery, uploaded to the Korean government's SafetyKorea product safety portal. The part listing for this battery--EB-BG988ABY--correlates to the Galaxy S11+'s purported model number, SM-G988. 

After the Galaxy Note 7 battery controversy, Samsung has evidently been taking steps to ensure that its device batteries are safe and reliable. 

Samsung has not officially announced the Galaxy S11+ and final specifications may well change. However, the uploaded image clearly shows a battery capacity of 5000 mAh. If this is indeed what the Galaxy S11+ ships with, it'll be the largest battery Samsung has ever put in a smartphone. 

The high capacity battery might be needed for more than just increased battery life, though. Tipster Ice Universe spotted a 120 Hz toggle in the One UI 2.0 beta, indicating that the S11 family might feature high refresh-rate displays. Together with a purported 6.9 in screen size, the S11+ might need that much juice just to power its display. 

With leaks indicating that the Galaxy S11 line will feature an Infinity-O display, it's interesting to consider where foldables like the Galaxy Fold figure in Samsung's strategy. Foldables might take center-stage in the future. However, this year, we will likely see another conventional Galaxy flagship, albeit one with a super-sized battery. Is this the nuclear weapon we've been waiting for?
