GoPro Mission 1 (Pro) gets three filters for sharper selfies with softer bokeh

The GoPro Mission 1 and the GoPro Mission 1 Pro ($679 on Amazon) feature an ultra-wide-angle lens that does not support autofocus. Instead, GoPro uses a fixed-focus lens that captures distant objects sharply, but close-range selfies are not quite as sharp. GoPro is now addressing precisely this issue with three close-focus filters.
The manufacturer gives buyers a choice of three variants. A 0.5-diopter filter that brings subjects at a distance of 0.5 to 1.5 meters into sharp focus, a 1-diopter filter for a focusing distance of 0.45 to 0.9 meters, and a 2-diopter filter for subjects 0.3 to 0.5 meters away from the camera. To use the filters, simply slip them onto the camera's lens, no settings need to be adjusted.
According to GoPro, these filters are perfect for taking selfies, with the right choice of filter depending on how large the subject should appear in the image. GoPro also advertises softer bokeh. Due to the combination of a 1-inch sensor and an ultra-wide-angle lens, the background is still clearly recognizable even with the strongest of the three filters, but it is at least blurred enough to make the subject visibly stand out.
