With the M5 Pro- and M5 Max-powered MacBook Pro models still a few months away from launch, the M4 Max remains one of the most powerful laptop chips on the market. It isn't particularly cheap, but a new Black Friday deal makes it a tad easier on the pocket. The 14-inch MacBook Pro can now be bought for $2,799, making it $300 cheaper than its asking price of $2,999.
The M4 Max comes with a 14-core CPU and a 32-core GPU, not the specced-out 16-core and 40-core versions exclusive to the 16-inch variant. Additionally, it had 36 GB of LPDDR5X-8533 RAM and 1 TB of storage. For extra storage/RAM, one will have to go to Apple's website.
Other specs include a 14-inch (3024 x 1964) mini-LED panel with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a 72.6 Wh battery, a 12 MP webcam with Centre Stage, three Thunderbolt 5.0 ports, one SD card reader, one HDMI port and one MagSafe connector. Thankfully, Apple ships a 96-Watt charger out of the box, eliminating the need to purchase it separately.
While we could not review the 14-inch M4 Max MacBook Pro mentioned above, we tested its M4 Pro variant in great depth. It lauds the laptop for its colour-accurate display, well-tuned speakers and excellent battery life. On the other hand, memory/storage is pretty much set in stone and unupgradable after purchase, and despite its exorbitant price tag, it still does not support Wi-Fi 7.
