13" Retina MacBook Pro could be coming at Apple event

Teaser
Apple's Oct. 23rd event may bring with it a new Retina MacBook Pro as well as the iPad Mini

The lid has been off the iPad Mini for quite some time now, but we could be in line for some other pleasant surprises at Apple's upcoming event. Most indications are that October 23rd will be the much awaited date, but new information coming down the wire seems to indicate that it won't be an iPad-only affair.

According to 9to5Mac, and their "consistently reliable source at a high-profile U.S. retailer", Apple is planning on introducing a Retina display, 13" MacBook Pro alongside the iPad Mini at their event next Tuesday. The device will supposedly be available in two separate models, each differing in storage and processing capabilities as usual.

As of now, it doesn't appear as if the MacBook Air will be lucky enough to receive a Retina update, but that could change over the next week. Interestingly, it has only been 4 months since Apple introduced their new generation of MacBook Pros, which included a 13" non-Retina model. Furthermore, if the new Retina device follows in the footsteps of the 15" model with regards to thickness, then the MacBook Air may consequently end up losing some of its appeal.
