Labeled as “significant restructuring,” the layoffs reverberated across the entire studio, affecting several co-founders.

Founded in 2015 by the developers of Payday and Payday 2, 10 Chambers Collective is a game development studio based in Sweden that developed the popular co-op horror shooter, GTFO. The co-op horror FPS was well received by gamers, earning a Very Positive rating and garnering over 54,000 positive reviews on Steam. In December of 2023, the studio announced its latest title in development, an FPS heist game, set in a Cyberpunk-esque world with gameplay reminiscent of Payday. The project was titled Den of Wolves

Revealed at The Game Awards 2023, through a new trailer, Den of Wolves is a fps co-op Heist game, set in the near future where Mega Corporations compete with each other in games of espionage and sabotage. According to the studio, players will need extreme coordination to pull off the heists or missions, aided by a whole load of futuristic gadgets and weapons.

“Den of Wolves’ sci-fi themes and gameplay elements gave us the freedom to offer more variety in heists, incorporating corporate espionage, sabotage, and assassinations,” the studio states, explaining their concept of the game. Fans of the previous games were eager to get their hands on the new title, especially since GTFO was initially released into early access. Development of the game seemed to be going normally until mid-February 2024, when the studio was hit with a round of layoffs. 2 years later, in February 2026, it seems the studio was hit with a second wave, when employees announced their layoffs on LinkedIn.

A spokesperson for the studio confirmed the news in a statement to Game Developer, stating only that a “large number” of employees had been impacted in an effort to reorganize the studio to ensure the game's success. The layoffs reverberated throughout the organization, “impacting a large number of roles, including several of the studio’s co-founders," they stated. Out of respect, the studio declined to comment on individual cases and reaffirmed its focus on Den of Wolves. The Spokesperson also mentioned Ulf Andersson and Simon Viklund would “remain fully committed to the game and to leading the studio forward.”

For now, information about the game's future is scarce. The spokesperson addressed this directly and said, “When we have more concrete news to share, we’ll do it through our official channels." While the game's future may seem bleak, the studio has reiterated its confidence in its decisions for the game's benefit.
