According to a suspect claim by a Chinese retailer, the iPhone SE 2020 (or iPhone 9, depending on the final name) may launch later today (April 15) at 11 A.M. Eastern. Several leakers have claimed that Chinese retailer Suning is prepping for the launch of the iPhone SE 2020 today.
UPDATE 11:03 AM EST - Apple just officially announced the iPhone SE 2020. Dubbed the "iPhone SE," the new phone conforms to most previous rumors. You can read more about it here.
Rumors are swirling that the iPhone SE 2020 (or iPhone 9, or iPhone SE 2) will launch later today at 11 A.M. Eastern.
The new rumor originates from a (somewhat suspect) claim by Chinese retailer Suning. The retailer has apparently started preparations for the release of Apple’s upcoming budget iPhone and has updated its eCommerce site to reflect the imminent launch. Other leakers have posted screenshots from Suning’s website and even a countdown timer that should end at 11 A.M. Eastern Time.
April 15th (today’s date) has been an oft-cited release date for the iPhone SE 2020 in the rumor mill over the past few months. Many leakers and tipsters have claimed the iPhone SE 2020 will officially launch on April 15th with shipments starting on April 22nd.
Of course, keep all of these claims in your salt shaker so you’ll have ample grains of salt with which you can take them. It’s very likely that all of this talk is simply smoke, but keep an eye out for the announcement of what many see as the most exciting iPhone in years. We will update this article on whether or not the rumors turn out to be true.
