90%Zepto Znote 6214WSource: Trusted ReviewsFor the non-gaming tasks, we compared it to the previously reviewed Dell Latitude D620 which uses a dual core 2GHz processor, but is a few hundred pounds more expensive. Battery life is probably the most disappointing area of this notebook but not enough to be considered poor. It managed two hours 24 minutes in general usage and one hour 50 minutes in DVD playback. This is certainly good enough for use on the train, but we’ve come to expect a little bit more from Intel Centrino branded notebooks. PC Mark gave a very misleading overall PC Mark score, having a higher score than the Dell. However, this was artificially boosted because of a considerably larger graphics score. In reality, this graphics score doesn’t affect 2D performance much at all. The only other area that this machine won was in memory tests – probably because the graphics processor is not sharing the system memory.

A newcomer to the pages of PC Pro, Zepto is a Norwegian laptop builder with ambitions this side of the North Sea. The Znote 6214W represents the mid-point of its flagship Znote range, and the 1.66GHz Core Duo T2300 and 1GB of RAM means it fits the bill perfectly as a mid-range laptop. It proved fast enough in our application benchmarks, returning an overall score of 0.87 - more than enough to be your main PC. Unlike most system builders, Zepto decided to send in a bare machine, so we needed to install Windows before we could run our benchmarks. You'll need to pay the extra £52 for Windows XP Home, or £86 for Windows XP Professional; or, of course, you can buy the Znote and install another operating system of your choice.

NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600: NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 is part of the most powerful third of mobile video cards. It can represent newest games well and no doubt is apt for office applications and surfing.
>> Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.
Intel Core Duo: Intel Core Duo (successor of Pentium M), is a double core processor with a very good relation of performance to current consumption. The 2 MB L2 Cache are used common. The maximum current consumption of 31 Watts is only 4 W more then with Pentium M. Due to the low energy need is Core Duo also suited for subnotebooks. Further now it supports SSE3 orders. The performance can nearly be doubled for applications, which were designed for multiprocessors (compared with Pentium M).
T2400: T2400 is a Core Duo of medium speed and apt for office applications and surfing.

14.1": 14 inch display size is a mixture between the small formats of subnotebooks and the 15 inch standard display.
The reason why so many people like displays with medium size is, that this size is not exhausting for the eyes, does not need too much current and the laptops can be kept quite compact.
>> To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
2.3 kg: These sub-notebooks weight less than the average of all notebooks, but represent a heavier class of weight among the sub-notebooks. 13 inch displays are normal for this class of weight.
Zepto: Zepto is a small international notebook-manufacturer, based in Denmark. There exist few reviews for Zepto models. The rare ratings are average.
