Ahead of the launch of the Redmi K80 Ultra, Xiaomi's Liu Weibing and Thomas Wang did a deep dive on some of the key features of the upcoming flagship which is also known as the Redmi K80 Extreme Edition. The livestream event also put the spotlight on the Redmi K Pad and gave us a first look at the Redmi Game Controller.
Touted as Redmi's most premium flagship phone, the Redmi K80 Ultra has a flat glass fiber back, a flat metal frame, and curved corners. Gone is the large rectangular camera island of the Redmi K70 Ultra and the Poco F6 Pro (available on Amazon.de for €415.66), and in its place is an off-center circular island that is home to two rear cameras and an LED flash. The phone will be available to buy in Green, Ice Blue, White, and Sandstone Grey.
The Redmi K80 Ultra is confirmed to have a 6.83-inch display with a 144Hz refresh rate, Eye Protection 2.0, 3200 nits of peak brightness, and support for DC dimming. Redmi also revealed the phone has an independent display chip called the Redmi D2 which uses AI to improve the phone's resolution.
Like its predecessor, the Redmi K80 Ultra is powered by a MediaTek processor but this time it is the Dimensity 9400+ which is currently MediaTek's flagship chipset. Unfortunately, the specific RAM and storage configurations that will be available are still under wraps. Redmi has also not disclosed the camera configuration. However, it says the Redmi K80 Ultra has the largest 3D vapor cooling system in Redmi history.
When the Redmi K80 Ultra arrives, it will pack a massive 7,410mAh battery capacity, a huge upgrade over the Redmi K70 Ultra's 5,500mAh battery. Redmi says the phone provides up to 2.26 days of use and will have support for 100W fast wired charging. It doesn't seem to have support for wireless charging like the Redmi K80 Pro. Other features revealed are its master-level coaxial dual speakers and a new vibrational motor with a closed-loop driver IC and up to 85 different vibration effects.
