Xiaomi 17 series confirmed for earlier launch as company reveals full flagship lineup

Xiaomi has been teasing the Xiaomi 17 series for quite a while, and now, the company has officially confirmed the Chinese launch date. The new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship phones will actually be fully unveiled in China sooner than initially speculated.

To be precise, while past reports suggested that the launch is set for September 29, 2025, Xiaomi has confirmed that it's set for September 25 instead. Alongside confirming the imminent Chinese launch date, the company has also officially showcased the non-Pro flagship phone of the series for the first time.

As the latest picture shows, the non-Pro Xiaomi 17 will feature a slightly redesigned back. It misses out on the secondary display that the Pro phones will come with, but it has a different camera island than its predecessor.

Looking back, the Xiaomi 15 features a relatively square camera island. The Xiaomi 17, on the other hand, has a squircle camera island, which is more similar to that of the iPhone 16 Pro series. This photo also confirms that the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 will feature a three-camera setup on the back, all of them, including the flash module, inside the camera island.

There's still no official word on how much the Xiaomi 17 series flagship phones will cost, but Lu Weibing, Xiaomi's president, has hinted that the non-Pro smartphone will be as affordable as the standard last-gen smartphone (Chinese 12/256 GB curr. $624.72 on TradingShenzhen).

The picture also shows that the non-Pro Xiaomi 17 will sport a compact form factor, and past reports have hinted that it will sport a 6.3-inch display, the same as the non-Max Pro model. Xiaomi is expected to share more official details about the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 phones soon.
