The list of ads and offers seems to be powered by a third party and we'd like to see Wileyfox police things much better to remove these reminders of the less appealing side of online ads, because otherwise this is a clever way of bringing down the price of handsets without locking you into a contract.

Overall, we enjoy the Wileyfox Swift 2 Plus. It's an all-rounder, with features you'd expect from a flagship such as its fingerprint sensor and gorgeous design. But when you dig deeper you notice the flaws that better reflect its price tag, which is a bit of a shame. Closer inspection of its design shows that it's a bit rough around the edges, and the screen quality and battery life are beaten by similarly priced rivals. Therefore it's a tricky one to offer a solid verdict on. For the price, you're getting a good phone that looks deceivingly premium, but you could opt for the Moto G5 for a better screen and similar overall features at a lower price.

Overall though, the spec is very good for the price, the design is decent enough and the phone will be a good solution for many who don’t want to spend several hundred pounds on their next smartphone.

As stated by unit I used was silver grey and black but I see from the Wileyfox site that it is also available in Gold.

WileyFox’s Swift was a fairly decent smartphone designed and marketed in the UK, although inevitably made in China. The company has continued to release new models, including the less impressive Spark X. Now the Swift is back as the Swift 2 and this enhanced version, the 2 Plus. It’s the same size, a modest five inches, but with a higher-resolution camera and twice the storage.

The G4 Plus does have a bigger battery, faster processor, and bigger screen with higher resolution – only it’s much bigger and less of a more comfortable fit in the hand, with less of a premium look.

The Swift 2 Plus is a fantastic follow-up phone, building on the solid foundations of the original Swift and giving us an improved camera experience, fingerprint security and Quick Charge support. If you’re on a budget, this is definitely a worthy rival to the Moto G4 and G4 Plus.

With a packed feature list, solid performance and a very reasonable price point, Wileyfox's new Swift model is a recommended option if you're shopping for an Android smartphone on a limited budget.

The Wileyfox Swift 2 isn't quite as good as the Motorola Moto G4 in several respects. Its screen isn’t as big or sharp, and the camera is less reliable and often produces significantly worse photos.

The metal body is nice, and the moderate size will likely suit a lot more people than the hulking Moto G4. It’s also nice to see features like Quick Charge 3.0, USB-C and a fingerprint scanner trickle down already to the lower range.

At the end of last year WileyFox launched two new SmartPhones, at the event it was let slip that another was soon to be launched, during terrible January weather it was launched and this is what it was all about a larger screen with higher resolution and a larger battery.

At a lower price this might be worth considering, but the impressive screen doesn’t outweigh its shortcomings

With so many budget brands to choose from, Android fans are now in the privileged position of being able to be a little choosy - even demanding - with our lower-end phones. The Swift 2 X is good, but it's not as good as the Honor 6X, and that costs just £5 more.

1080p and a bigger battery make this the Wileyfox phone to go for, and even though the price has been bumped, it's still a great value mid-ranger

On the whole, despite the concerns over the phone’s tendency to stutter and stall, the Swift 2 X seems a decent package. It has a nice design and build, the screen is bright and sharp, and the battery should be capable of getting the heaviest users through a work day.

The Swift 2 X has a lot going for it. The use of metal makes it one of the nicest-looking budget phones I’ve tested in quite some time. Add to this its upgraded 1080p screen, fingerprint scanner and improved battery tech and the Swift X 2 has the chops to be one of the best budget handsets this year.

Wileyfox has fine-tuned its affordable smartphone formula, and the Swift 2 X is further evidence that the British firm knows what it’s doing in the lower end of the market.

It is a very small display format for smartphones. You should by no means be mis-sighted and you will generally see very little on the screen and only have a small resolution available. In return, the device should be very small and handy.

78.75%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
