Apple is widely known to keep details surrounding its upcoming products pretty close to its chest. Despite the Cupertino giant's best efforts, it can't help but involuntarily leak information every now and then, such as via code references hidden within its software.
Of course, Apple likely believes no one would dive deep enough to hunt for future product hints. However, curious denizens of the internet have always proved otherwise. This time around, it is the widely rumored iPhone 17 Air that s the victim of a recent leak that sheds light on its screen size.
Hidden within the iOS 26 beta, MacWorld discovered a wallpaper with dimensions of 1260 x 2736. While that may not seem like a big deal at first glance, the plot thickens when we realize that no current iPhone boasts that specific resolution. As pointed out by MacRumors, prominent analyst Ming-Chi kuo had previously stated that the elusive iPhone 17 Air will sport almost the exact resolution, give or take a few pixels.
This confirms that the iPhone 17 Air will indeed boast a 6.6-inch screen, slotting in between the iPhone 17 and the 17 Plus/Pro Max variants. The handset is also expected to feature a single-camera setup, A19 SoC, and an ultra-slim frame that is just 5.5 mm thin.
Whether or not Apple manages to maintain a decent battery life with its ambitiously thin smartphone, remains to be seen. When considering the advantages brought forth by Apple Silicon in recent years, however, the task certainly does seem somewhat doable.
