Within less than a week, Dell’s M6600 Precision notebook has gone all the way from being leaked to being announced, and now to finally being released. Although Dell had previously revealed a May 10th global launch date for their M4600 and M6600 notebooks, shoppers in the United Kingdom are in luck as the larger M6600 can now be purchased online.
Starting at £1549 ($2587), the M6600 base configuration will come with an Intel Core i5-2520M processor, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a 320GB HDD and a 1GB AMD FirePro M5950. However, the mobile workstation can be outfitted with up to a Core i7-2920XM Extreme processor and multi-touch support can be added to the 1920x1080 pixel 17.3" IPS display.
When the M6600 was originally released, Dell stated that it would be customizable with up to an NVIDIA 5010M GPU and 32GB of RAM. Alas it seems that UK customers will not be privy to those options, as the listed M6600 tops off at an NVIDIA Quadro 4000M graphics card along with only up to 16GB of RAM. In addition, the base price is around $430 more expensive than the previously announced American price tag; however, VAT could be the culprit behind that increase.
While the more expensive English model of the M6600 might not have the same options as it brother across the pond, the early release date has to count for something, right? In any case, those eager to get their hands on the M6600 can always head on over to the United Kingdom of Britain and North Ireland and place an order for themselves. Otherwise, May 10th is just around the corner and your wallet might appreciate the wait.
