The Chizha Mount Ling Dock was first announced back in June, and now Dockcase has finally confirmed more launch details. The docking station will be crowdfunded on Kickstarter in September. The so-called "Super Early Bird" offer will reportedly cost $129, as the retail price will eventually increase to $199.
Alternatively, the "Game Changer Bundle" includes an additional portable SSD enclosure and will cost $189. All prices exclude shipping and potential import fees and taxes. This makes the Steam Deck dock relatively expensive, since a simple dock from Anker or other brands costs around $30 on Amazon. However, the new Dockcase is expected to offer more than just a wide selection of ports, which includes an additional USB-C port (10 Gbps), two USB-A ports, Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI 2.0 for 4K HDR monitors with up to 60Hz and Toslink for soundbars or external speakers.
Connected gaming handhelds can be charged via USB-C Power Delivery with up to 100 watts, while an integrated fan with up to 5,000 revs per minute is designed to support the handheld's cooling system during gaming. The dock's ventilation slots do not block the built-in fan of the Steam Deck. With a fan noise of up to 28dB, the dock should be barely audible. Moreover, there’s an M.2 2280 slot that supports a single PCIe SSD with a capacity of up to 4TB.
That being said, the most unusual feature is the 3-inch touchscreen on the front, which has a resolution of 560 x 170 pixels. It allows users to control the RGB lighting, the fan and check the status of the ports. For example, users can see the resolution of a connected monitor or the speed of a USB device.
