A special edition gaming chair collection is the deluxe lovechild of ergonomic chair company Vertagear and German automaker Audi. Comprising of Audi-themed versions of the regular 800 series, the entire chair collection can be pre-ordered on Vertagear's website right now, starting at $499 for the SL3800 Audi Edition.
Vertagear gaming chairs are known for their proprietary ContourMax feature: adaptive TPE modules that provide adjustable lumbar support. The entire upholstery moves on PU-coated casters, and is layered with memory foam and PUC leather, while the pressure relief seats have air pillars embedded for comfort and cooling. Vertegear offers a ten-year warranty for the load-bearing steel frame for all its gaming chairs. Similarly priced chairs like Corsair's TC500 offer only a couple years of warranty from the day of purchase. However, Corsair's warranty covers the entire chair while Vertagear's is limited to the steel skeleton.
What differentiates Vertagear's classic models from their costlier, motorsports-inspired versions? The technical specifications are exactly the same, and both collections have the same proprietary features. It comes down to colors, slight design alterations and of course, cost.
At $499, the SL3800 Audi Edition currently sells for $120 more than the regular version and is only available in black and red. Both chairs come with 3D armrests and can bear a max load of 220 lb (100kg). However, the separately sold Vertegear RGB LED kit is not compatible with the SL3800 Audi. Consequently, eSports enthusiasts who want the full RGB lighting experience will have to upgrade to one of the costlier chairs.
The $599.99 black and white SL5800 RS boasts 4D armrests, "coffee-ground" odor trapping nanofabric and an aluminum alloy base that can bear weights up to 250 lbs (113kg). For the PL4800 Audi Sport, load-bearing is racked up to a max weight of 360 lbs (163 kg). It comes in black and red and can be pre-ordered for $699.99 on Vertagear's website. This special edition gaming chair collection is expected to ship by the 15th of July.
