The Motorola Edge S is the first smartphone with Qualcomm's 'new' Snapdragon 870 chipset, effectively a repackaged Snapdragon 865. Nonetheless, Edge S' price and performance have attracted people in China, where it sold over 10,000 units in under two minutes of going on sale.

The Edge S, which Motorola unveiled at the end of January, may have departed from the design of the Motorola Edge, but it has still sold exceedingly well in China so far.

The Motorola Edge S offers a Snapdragon 870, Qualcomm's repackaged Snapdragon 865, along with a 6.7-inch, 90 Hz, IPS display. Additionally, the device has up to 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of UFS 2.1 flash storage, which Motorola has paired with a 5,000 mAh battery.

While these are not necessarily impressive specifications, its CNY 1,999 (~US$310) starting price represents excellent value for money. Accordingly, people snapped up over 10,000 copies in the first two minutes of the smartphone's launch, equating to over US$3 million in sales for Motorola. However, Motorola is yet to provide any information about if or when it plans to launch the Edge S globally.
