GPD has upgraded the Win Max Mini, one of its handheld gaming PCs. The Win Max Mini 2021 will soon be available with Intel Tiger Lake and AMD Ryzen 4000 processors, which should both have improved gaming performance compared to last year's model.

GPD launched the Win Max last year with Ice Lake processors, but the company is due to replace this model with a 2021 edition that features upgraded internals. According to a blog post, GPD plans to release the Win Max 2021 with Intel Tiger Lake and AMD Ryzen 4000 processors, both upgrades on the Ice Lake architecture.

Specifically, GPD aims to release the Win Max 2021 with the Core i7-1165G7, Core i7-1185G7 and the Ryzen 7 4800U. GPD had hoped to include the Ryzen 7 5800U, but its limited availability nixed that idea.

The Win Max's design remains unchanged too, so the 2021 edition will feature an 8-inch display that operates natively at 1,280 x 800 pixels. The device features faster RAM though, which now runs at 4,266 MHz. Additionally, the Tiger Lake models support Thunderbolt 4, a feature probably lacking from the Ryzen 7 4800U edition.

GPD has not confirmed when it plans to release the Win Max 2021, nor how much it will cost. However, it will compete with the newly-announced ONE XPLAYER and the AYA NEO.
