Samsung is one of the first companies to introduce AMOLED (Active Matrix OLED) technology in mobile touch panels. The Super AMOLED screens later introduced were even better. If this AndroidCentral rumor turns out to be true, the next evolution called Super AMOLED HD could be on the way this fall. There is a bonus along with – an improved manufacturing process could mean less manufacturing price for the panel, which in turn could benefit the end-user. In fact OLED-info says the cost could be as much as 20% cheaper than an equivalent S-LCD!

We have a next-gen Galaxy Tab 7” in the pipeline which promises a much brighter screen than that on the existing one. Could it be that this Tab will come adorned with the AMOLED HD screen? The release dates of both are also speculated to be by the end of this year.

This could be the first time when such a high definition was squeezed into a mobile form-factor.
