Roman Triumph: Survival City Builder has officially left early access as of September 16, 2025, unlocking its full 1.0 version on Steam. After five years of development by Coreffect Interactive, the game has been polished, balanced, and expanded - with new content, improved stability, and a fresh biome added.
What the game is about
You lead a fledgling Roman city on the empire’s fringe. Your duties run from building farms, industry, and housing to defending against barbarians and mythic beasts like Hydras, Minotaurs and more. Gods play a huge role: temples must be built, edicts obeyed, else curses such as storms or disease can strike. Maps are procedurally generated, so replayability is essentially baked in. You’ll also build defenses like walls, ballistae, organize trade, manage food, water, and citizen happiness.
Roman Triumph began its Early Access period on April 3, 2025, then gathered feedback, added features, and sharpened its systems. The 1.0 launch also introduces a new desert biome (with aqueducts and scarce timber), new defensive traps, and better quality-of-life improvements.
What people are saying
User reception is very strong: about 89% "Very Positive" overall from ~519 reviews, and recent reviews also following suit. Many praise the mix of strategy, survival, city-builder loops, plus the mythic threats and godly mechanics that keep things spicy. Some complaints point at rough edges (UI, balancing), but most agree dev has delivered more than just promise.
How it stacks up & price
If games such as Cities: Skylines, Age of Empires, or Rome: Total War are your thing, Roman Triumph will hit familiar chords. It combines base building, combat, and mythology in a way that feels fresh yet recognizably in the genre. The launch price is US$24.99, but Steam is running an introductory -30% discount right now, pushing it to ~$17.49 until September 29.
