Star Wars: The Old Republic is about to receive Game Update 7.7, “Dynamic Worlds,” between late May and early June. With the upcoming update, the MMO will introduce a new PvP season, story expansions, character modernisation, and more. The content is now live on the Public Test Server (PTS) for players to explore early.
This update brings several major enhancements, like dynamic, timed encounters on seven core planets: Tython, Korriban, Ord Mantell, Hutta, Dromund Kaas, Coruscant, and Ilum. These encounters vary depending on a character’s progress in the storyline, adding flexibility and replayability to the content.
As far as the narrative is concerned, Update 7.7 continues the Legacy of the Sith arc through two new story chapters - Galactic Threads and Master’s Enigma. Players will delve deeper into the mysterious plans of Darth Malgus, investigate Darth Nul’s holocron, and uncover a behind-the-scenes manipulator influencing recent galactic events.
Another major addition is the Eras Window, a UI overhaul that visually organises the game’s storyline into distinct eras. It serves as both a progress tracker and a reintroduction tool for returning players, which offers an easier way to engage with the vast SWTOR narrative.
Coming to the graphics, 7.7 builds on Broadsword’s modernisation efforts with refined textures, lighting parity between the preview window and in-game characters, and enhanced customisation. Further, seven species, including Chiss, Togruta, and Twi’lek, now have expanded skin tone options. Further, gameplay enhancements include combat rebalancing across several Disciplines, adjusted default talent choices, and improved mission and map navigation. The update also marks the return of Relentless Replication Master Mode, which gives high-level players another shot at the XR-53 boss with updated legendary augments. Plus, as mentioned earlier, a new PvP season and the return of the Nar Shaddaa Nightlife event are also scheduled.
Broadsword has made it clear that Update 7.7 is not just about new quests - it’s about refreshing the SWTOR experience for veteran players and also making it more approachable for new players. As mentioned, early access for the 7.7 update is available, and players can download the Public Test Server via Steam.
