Konami has announced that its latest standalone entry in the Silent Hill franchise, Silent Hill f, has sold over 1 million copies across physical and digital platforms in just one day, following its September 25, 2025, launch.
Konami shared this milestone via a press statement and its Japanese Silent Hill account, expressing gratitude to everyone who played the game and helped it surpass 1 million copies. Konami announced:
“This achievement reinforces the series’ status as an iconic horror franchise that continues to resonate with fans yearning for an unsettling psychological horror experience. Through the lens of Silent Hill f, players dive into a haunting narrative by Ryukishi07 based on a ‘beautiful yet horrifying’ artistic vision.”
Before the game’s release, the Silent Hill franchise managed to achieve 11.7 million lifetime sales as of June 2025. Silent Hill f’s rapid sales progress is a big win for Konami, considering Silent Hill 2 Remake took a few days to achieve 1 million sales, and another 3 months until January to achieve a sales figure of 2 million.
The game has been critically praised by gaming outlets like Famitsu, and player engagement is still at an all-time high with modders wasting no time in implementing performance tweaks, unlocking ray tracing implementations via the game's .ini settings, to location fixes, HUD removals, and even cheekier alterations like cheats, and removal of the iconic fog that shrouds the town of Ebisugaoka.
Post-launch conversations have compared the game to Souls-like games given the nature of Silent Hill f’s combat system, but Konami has firmly distanced itself from the comparisons, with the publisher voicing frustration over the persistent labeling.
However, gamers online are voicing concerns about the PC ports' optimization issues, as Konami instead turned its focus on patching out bonus content that was accidentally handed to Standard Edition owners.
Many players who pre-ordered the physical edition of Silent Hill f via GameStop have been left in the dark, as the company is yet to fulfill Steelbook orders for the title. Furthermore, the game’s base PlayStation 5 port has also been a topic of debate as the game renders at a dynamic 720p–360p upscaled to 1800p to achieve a stable 60FPS.
