Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 tablets are now official

At 5.6 mm, they are the thinnest and lightest tablets in the Korean giant’s portfolio.

Samsung has finally officially unveiled the new Galaxy Tab S2 tablets. The new devices will be available in two screen sizes, 8-inch and 9.7-inch. Both come with 4:3 ratio Super AMOLED displays with 2048 x 1536 resolution. At 5.6 mm, they are the thinnest tablets in the Korean giant’s portfolio.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 tablets are powered by octa-core Exynos 5433 SoC’s, sporting four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 1.9 GHz and another four Cortex-A53 ones ticking at 1.3 GHz. Both devices have 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB or 64 GB of on-board storage, expandable via micro-SD slots. Both are also equipped with 8 MP rear and 2.1 MP front cameras, as well as fingerprint scanners for inreased security.

The 8-inch model features a 4000 mAh battery and weighs only 265 grams, while the bigger one has been outfitted with a 5870 mAh battery and weighs 389 grams.

Naturally, both Galaxy Tab S2’s are running Android 5.0 out of the box. They will be available worldwide in August in Wi-Fi only, as well as Wi-Fi/LTE variants. Pricing has not been unveiled yet.
