Samsung is yet to officially announce the Galaxy A17 5G, but a few retailers in Europe already have the new smartphone available to buy, thus revealing the full spec sheet and pricing for the device. The Galaxy A17 5G arrives with a refreshed design and a few upgrades over its predecessor, the Galaxy A16 5G (curr. available on Amazon for $174.99).
The Galaxy A17 5G retains the thick bezels and U-shaped notch of the previous generation, and even its Super AMOLED FHD+ display with a 90H refresh rate sticks to the same 6.7-inch size. However, it now has Gorilla Glass Victus for protection against drops and scratches. Sadly, brightness remains 800 nits.
On the back, the Galaxy A17 5G wears a new look as all three of its cameras are now housed in a pill-shaped island flanked on the right by an LED flash. The camera configuration consists of a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 5MP ultrawide angle camera, and a 2MP sensor for macro images. Up in front is a 13MP selfie camera.
The Galaxy A17 5G is powered by the Exynos 1330 processor like one of the variants of the Galaxy A16 5G, and according to the listings from the retailers, there will be a 4GB RAM version with 128GB of storage and another with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage, both of which have a micro SD card slot for storage expansion. There will most likely be other configurations available too.
Samsung ships the Galaxy A17 5G with One UI 7 based on Android 15, and promises it will receive 6 years of OS upgrades and 6 years of security updates. The Galaxy A17 5G now has AI features including Google's Gemini assistant and Circle-to-Search.
Other features of the Galaxy A17 5G include a 5,000mAh battery capacity with support for 25W fast charging, dual SIM support, Bluetooth 5.3, dual-band Wi-Fi, a fingerprint sensor, and IP54 dust and water resistance. Unfortunately, like the Galaxy A16 5G, Samsung has removed the headphone jack.
Available in Blue, Black, and Gray, the Galaxy A17 5G is available to buy now from the French e-commerce platform, Boulanger, for €229.99 which gets you the base model with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage while MediaMarkt Spain has the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant for €309.
