PlateStation 5 gets busted by PlayStation 5
It appears Sony has clamped down on PlateStation 5. The latter has been in the news recently because of it offering pre-orders for numerous colored plates for the PlayStation 5, including cherry red, camouflage green, indigo blue, chrome, and black. While many fans had been praising PlateStation 5’s work, it appears the customizers have incurred the wrath of Sony and have had to make some changes.
PlateStation 5 is now known as Customize My Plates (after briefly trying out PlateStation without the vital number attached to it). The firm has announced via Twitter that changes were made because of “patent and intellectual property issues”, and it has even revealed that while all current orders will be cancelled there will also be refunds being made to those future PS5 owners who already paid for a set of snazzy plates.
It’s not been specifically mentioned whether it was the name of the company that caused Sony’s consternation or the images of the PS5 with its plates decked out in various colors. It’s likely Sony will offer customized plates for the PS5 to gamers in the future as part of an additional revenue stream and won’t be too keen on unofficial third-party companies getting in on that lucrative action.
