The Pixy Tag, a particularly compact power bank designed for smartwatches, is currently crowdfunding. The model is specifically advertised for use with the Apple Watch, which doesn't offer a long battery life at all. In one image, the manufacturer shows how the power bank can charge the Apple Watch while wearing it, which means that heart rate can no longer be measured and the watch naturally becomes very bulky. Charging is wireless, so there's no cable connection for charging the smartwatch. The power bank itself is charged via cable.
There is one limitation with this 30-gram power bank, namely its capacity, which is specified as only 500 mAh. This should be enough for a full charge of most Apple Watch models. The Apple Watch Ultra models, however, come with a larger battery, so the Pixy Tag will only be able to charge 70 to 80%. The compact power bank offers another function, namely tracking. Thanks to Apple Find My, localization of the Pixy Tag is possible, provided there are enough Apple devices nearby. This could easily be used to track a bag, for example. On Kickstarter, supporters can purchase a unit for $29 as part of a "Super Early Bird" special, with delivery scheduled for November.
The financial risks typical of crowdfunding apply, including the eventualities that the product may not make it to market nor function as advertised.
