The OnePlus number series is the company’s flagship lineup, featuring models such as the OnePlus 13. Additionally, the Chinese company also offers upper mid-range smartphones in China under the Ace series. Now, a leak suggests that OnePlus may launch a new lineup of smartphones.
Tipster Smart Pikachu on Weibo suggests that OnePlus is working on a new budget smartphone series under the Turbo branding. The leak described the upcoming lineup as a new ‘小金刚’ series, a term commonly used in China that is associated with Xiaomi’s Redmi Note lineup.
For context, the Redmi Note 15 starts at CNY 999 (~$140). Meanwhile, the cheapest OnePlus offering in China is the Ace 5 Racing at CNY 1,799 (~$252). Hence, the OnePlus Turbo series could help the company compete in lower-end price segments.
The OnePlus Turbo series phones could also be launched in the global market, albeit with different branding, similar to how the Ace 5 was rebranded as the OnePlus 13R (curr. $499 on Amazon).
In other news, the company is expected to release the OnePlus 15 in China in October. A previous leak revealed the color options and storage configurations of the upcoming flagship phone. Additionally, the company is also reportedly working on next-gen compact flagship phone, the OnePlus 15T.
