Huawei has announced a new blood pressure tracking feature for the Watch D2. This wearable was released in 2024, a smartwatch with an airbag built into the strap to detect blood pressure levels.
The Huawei Watch D2 already offers ‘anytime blood pressure’ measurements, manually triggered by the wearer. Plus, there is an ambulatory blood pressure monitoring feature, where measurements are taken at set intervals across a 24 hour period, calculating daytime and nighttime averages.
Now, the Watch D2 is getting a scheduled blood pressure measurement. In a post on social media (below), Huawei suggests that this offers you the ability to “tailor your blood pressure tracking like never before”. This function will enable users to set reminders to take blood pressure measurements at specific times, whether a one-off or at regular intervals. It is likely that these reminders will come with an auto-start function, as is the case for ambulatory blood pressure measurements. Here, the watch automatically starts taking a measurement eight seconds after the reminder goes off. At night, measurements should also be taken without manual input.
The Huawei Watch D2’s new scheduled blood pressure measurement feature is expected to launch on September 19th. On this date, the company is also scheduled to unveil the new Watch GT 6 smartwatch.
