Nærwear launches display-less STUND watch on Indiegogo
The Nærwear STUND watch has officially launched on Indiegogo. Named after an Old Norse word for 'a brief moment in time', the STUND watch has a new display-less design that forces users to feel time rather than see it. The only feature included is the ability to select a repeating vibration using one button. Features removed include common ones found on other smartwatches such as apps and health monitors.
The STUND is a round, 41 mm timepiece weighing 50 grams machined from a block of 316 stainless steel. The 7 mm thin module can be paired with leather or vegan leather straps in three colors - light sand, cognac brown, and midnight blue.
While other smartwatches force users to monitor and frequently interact with their watches, the STUND anti-smartwatch frees you by not display time or health information. Instead, users are left with a simple vibration that occurs every 5, 15, 30, or 60 minutes.
This deliberate form of mindfulness training forces wearers to become more aware of the present while creating three changes in time awareness according to Nærwear: noticing the subjective length of time, being in the present time, and feeling more of the available time.
