Minisforum recently teased the MS-S1 Max as a high-end mini PC with an AMD Strix Halo APU. The system has now been showcased at IFA 2025, and with that, the company has confirmed that it's one of the first systems that comes with two USB4 V2 ports, which are rated for 80 Gbps transfer speed. This is a 2x jump from the first version, matching what Thunderbolt 5 offers.
The company also notes that the MS-S1 Max has two 40 Gbps USB4 ports and supports dGPU through the internal PCIe x16 slot. Of course, the discrete desktop GPU needs to be of SFF size, as there's a limited amount of space available inside the chassis (Asus SFF-ready RTX 5070 curr. $523.79 on Amazon).
As for the APU, the mini PC packs the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 with the Radeon 8060S, which can be paired with up to 128 GB of RAM. Minisforum further highlights that the MS-S1 Max features two 10 GbE LAN ports, and for wireless connectivity, there are WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
Other highlights included a built-in 320 W PSU, a microphone array, and a sleek chassis. Speaking of which, the chassis is said to be rack optimized, featuring rear exhaust vents. Minisforum has yet to share when the MS-S1 Max will be available, and the starting price of the system is also under wraps. However, it could be priced at the same range as the GMKtec EVO-X2.
