Minisforum NPB6 offers 13th Gen Core i7 in a familiar design
Minisforum has updated its Venus Series by debuting the NPB6. Although the mini PC might seem the same as the NAB6 from the exterior, its internals have undergone a major upgrade.
While the predecessor came with a 12th Gen Core i7-12650H, the Minisforum NPB6 boasts the 13th Gen Core i7-13620H CPU. Additionally, the mini PC comes with DDR5 RAM instead of DDR4 found in the predecessor. These two upgrades enhance the mini PC's capabilities when compared to the NAB6.
However, it's important to note that the Minisforum NPB6 can only support up to 32 GB of memory, whereas the NAB6 supports up to 64 GB of RAM. But that shouldn't be a major issue, as 32 GB of DDR5 RAM should suffice for most applications.
The other specs of the NPB6 remain the same as the NAB6. That means the refreshed mini PC still offers an M.2 slot that can accommodate up to a 2 TB SSD and a 2.5-inch SATA HDD slot. Even the ports are identical to the predecessor. And the great part is the chassis is also the same as the NAB6.
Thanks to this, the new Minisforum NPB6 benefits from the efficient cooling design introduced with the NAB6. So, the mini PC should deliver excellent overall performance across various demanding applications.
Regarding the price tag, the barebone NPB6 is currently available for US$479.90 on Amazon. In comparison, the Minisforum NAB6's barebone variant launched with a price tag of US$499 (32/512 model currently US$525.90 on Amazon).
