MSI reveals 15.6-inch GE620DX gaming notebook

Teaser
Notebook will pack Intel Core i7-2630QM processor with a GeForce GT 555M GPU and dual USB 3.0 ports

Taiwanese computer manufacturer MSI has been on a roll this year with notebooks targeted at the gaming crowd on the move. The company announced on Wednesday that it will soon be ready to release yet another gaming notebook with specs and connectivity options galore.

Called the GE620DX, the 15.6-inch notebook sports a 2GHz Sandy Bridge Intel Core i7-2630QM quad-core CPU and an Nvidia GeForce GT 555M GPU with 2GB VRAM.

Unfortunately, the press release does not state the amount of included RAM and the monitor resolution is only a disappointing 1366x768 pixels. According to tweaktown.com, however, the notebook will support up to 8GB DDR3 RAM. Hopefully a full 1080p resolution will be an option for those gamers demanding full HD experiences for gaming and video sessions.

Elsewhere on the notebook, the GE620DX includes a hefty amount of extra features, including Nvidia PhysX, Turbo Boost 2.0 for enhancing CPU speeds, MSI GPU Boost for on-the-fly switching between discrete and integrated graphics, THX TruStudio Pro surround sound and the MSI S-Bar software for easy onscreen access to all of the features.

As for connectivity, expect the notebook to come equipped with 2x USB 3.0, 1x USB 2.0, Gigabit LAN, HDMI, VGA, multi-card reader, Bluetooth v2.1 and of course wireless-n. Anticipate a weight of about 2.4kg (5.29 pounds) with the included 6-cell battery.

MSI has not yet announced pricing and release dates for the GE620DX, however. Until then, check out the similarly specced MSI GT780R here.
