The Little Nightmares franchise is all set to get its next instalment as well as a lot more extras. As part of a transmedia expansion unveiled during the Little Nightmares Showcase on June 24, Bandai Namco has announced several new projects that go beyond the screens.
Little Nightmares is gearing up for its first VR title
One of the most promising announcements was Little Nightmares: Altered Echoes, a VR title currently in development at Iconik Studio. This will mark the franchise’s first foray into virtual reality. At the moment, not much is known about the VR title, including which platforms it will support or when it will launch. However, the trailer showcased an experience similar to the beloved Little Nightmares titles.
Bandai Namco announces a new podcast season, comic book series, and more for Little Nightmares
To complement the upcoming release of Little Nightmares III, Bandai Namco is introducing new storytelling formats, including comic books, a novel, and more. Here’s everything that has been announced so far -
- The Sounds of Nightmares podcast is returning for a second season, which is currently in development. The audio series, which has already had over two million listens, is a companion to the games through character-driven psychological horror stories.
- Little Nightmares: Descent to Nowhere, a comic book series published by Titan Comics, will debut its first issue in October 2025. It will follow two parallel stories: one featuring Hush, a mute girl who awakens in a dungeon cell and teams up with Mono (a familiar name to series fans), and another featuring Myra, a weary detective investigating child disappearances.
- Little Nightmares: The Lonely Ones, a young adult horror novel by author E.C. Myers, is set to release in September 2025 via Scholastic. The book introduces Ruse, a girl who wakes up in a shifting, dangerous carnival alongside two strangers - each potentially an ally or a threat. The story promises a fresh take on the series’ themes of trust, fear, and survival.
- A stop-motion animation project, teased in a brief video during the showcase, is being developed in collaboration with Taller del Chucho, the animation studio behind Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio. While release details are still under wraps, the teaser hinted at the franchise’s potential evolution into a visual art form.
With October 10 marking the release of Little Nightmares III and a host of accompanying projects, Bandai Namco is clearly signaling its intent to evolve Little Nightmares into something far greater than a game series.
