LineageOS 21 arrives with Android 14, Material You design, and more

LineageOS 21 isn't the first custom ROM based on Android 14. We have already seen the launch of Evolution X 8, Voltage OS 3.2, Paranoid Android Uvite, and others. But it goes without saying that LineageOS is one of the most popular custom Android ROMs around.

The team also offers the most stable ROMs, making each of the versions worth trying if you want to get a custom ROM installed on your Android phone. On the note of new versions, the initial launch of the LineageOS 21 comes with all the Android 14 features, plus many extras.

Among the additional features is something that the LineageOS team calls Glimpse. It's a new gallery app for the latest custom OS. Glimpse basically replaces the default AOSP gallery app called Gallery2 and brings some handy features.

Then, there's the Aperture camera app, which is not exactly new but has many changes, including support for Material You design. LineageOS 21 also introduces a redesigned Jelly browser with better privacy controls. Some of the other classic apps of this custom ROM, such as LatinIME, Calculator, and Messaging, also got Material You redesigns.

At the current stage, the new LineageOS based on Android 14 is available on a handful of devices.
