Lenovo has released a new accessory under its ThinkPlus brand, less than a fortnight after it launched the ThinkPlus Fluxo 125 W power bank with a built-in display. This time, it has introduced a 240 W charging cable, which it sells in China as the ThinkPlus 240 W Telescopic Dual-Head Type-C Data Cable.
As its name suggests, the cable has USB Type-C connectors on both ends. Weighing roughly 63 g, the cable can be extended up to 60 cm each way from its 74.5 × 63 × 16.4 mm housing. Please note that while the cable itself has a woven exterior, its included housing is simple polycarbonate. Also, the ThinkPlus 240 W Telescopic Dual-Head Type-C Data Cable is said to support 240 W charging via the USB 3.2 Power Delivery standard for Lenovo's Legion gaming laptops like the latest Legion 5 we reviewed last month (curr. $1,649 on Amazon).
However, Lenovo's proprietary fast-charging protocol does not extend to transfer speeds, which top out at 480 Mbps in accordance with USB 2.0. Currently, the new charging cable can be picked up in a choice of three colours for CNY 69 (~$9.62) either from Lenovo's store or retailers like JD.com. There is no word yet on international availability; please see Lenovo's website for more details.
