Leaked AMD documents confirm integrated GPUs for next-generation Socket AM5 processors
AMD has resisted including iGPUs in most of its desktop processors, Ryzen G series APUs notwithstanding. By contrast, Intel even includes integrated GPUs (iGPUs) in its server processors, such as the Xeon W-11155MRE. However, leaked documents state that all Zen 4 architecture processors feature iGPUs.
Supposedly, these documents are from Gigabyte, which announced it had suffered a ransomware attack on August 6. Apparently, RansomEXX obtained 112 GB of data, including documents belonging to AMD.
As the embedded images below show, the documents show three Socket AM5 processors, all with 'on-chip graphics'. Chips and Cheese notes that 'some OPNs...may not support GFX', so AMD may deactivate iGPUs on some processors. For reference, Intel sells equivalents processors under its F series, including the Core i7-11700F.
Additionally, another document shows that Socket AM5 processors support more PCIe Gen4 lanes than current Ryzen equivalents. Presumably, this will allow future Ryzen processors to offer more bandwidth to NVMe SSDs, among other uses. Zen 4 APUs are expected to support DisplayPort 2.0 Alt Mode, too.
According to several leaked roadmaps, AMD has codenamed its Zen 4 desktop processors 'Raphael', which may or may not succeed last year's Vermeer generation. The same roadmap states that Raphael processors have Navi 2 (RDNA 2) GPUs, an upgrade over the Vega ones found in current Ryzen APUs.
